The Cider Cup

THE CIDER CUP 2020

The Cider Cup golf competition took place on Friday, 28th August at Wellshurst Golf and Country Club in Hellingly. The event between Icklesham Casuals and Dateline Golf Society, a society of former 1st team captain Steve Beale, is based on the Ryder Cup and is played over twenty seven holes comprising nine holes of foursomes, fourballs and singles and this year involved ten players on each side.

It was the Dateline Golf Society who started well winning the opening two foursomes but the Casuals hit back to take the next three and a 3-2 lead after the opening nine holes. The dateline Golf Society won only two further points with Icklesham running out comfortable 16 points to four winners.

The winning Icklesham Casuals team was:- Mike Beaumont (captain), Bob Baker, Chris Baker, Asa Croucher, Ben Croucher, Tony Forster, Dan Marsh, Dave Stannard, Paul Sully and Andy Vickers.

As well as Steve Beale, the Dateline Golf Society was also represented by Richard Forrest who made over 500 appearances for the club and Nick Sparks who appeared for the Veterans.
