THE 14TH ICKLESHAM CASUALS GOLF TOURNAMENT

The 14th Icklesham Casuals Golf Tournament was held on Friday, 10th September at Wellshurst Golf and Country Club and started with a Ploughman’s Lunch from 1 pm with players teeing-off in the competition from 2 pm. Wellshurst is a 5825 yard, par 71 course situated in 150 acres of beautiful Sussex countryside.

THE COMPETITORS

There were thirteen competitors this year divided into three groups of three and a final fourball and it was Ben Croucher who took the trophy for the first time scoring 35 stableford points playing off a handicap of two. With an outstanding final six holes where he picked up thirteen points, Hugh Sullivan was runner-up with tournament debutant Colin Cooke in third place.
Ben Croucher also picked up the prize for ‘nearest the pin’ on the par three fifth hole with brother Asa taking the award for the best holes 13 to 18 for a player not in the top three and it was Jeff Beale who went home with the wooden spoon this year.
Another enjoyable tournament again organised by Bob Baker.
