The 1st team recorded the first win of the season for the Club on Saturday with a dominant display in defeating a Hollington United Reserves side containing a lot of quality by five goals to one.

Both Stan Coleman and Blake Henderson netted goals on their debuts while in contrast Sean Baker recorded his 216th goal for the Club. Archie Brunt and Oli Spain completed the scorers.

The 2nd team went down 2-1 at home to Hawkhurst United Reserves in a closely fought game with Zach Locke finding the net from outside the area. Although not yet reflected in results, improvements are being seen.

The opening League fixtures of the new season take place this Saturday with both sides away from home with cricket taking place at Icklesham Recreation Ground.

The 1st team travel to Burwash for their Division Three game which kicks-off at 2 pm while the newly reformed 2nd team are away at Hawkhurst United II in Division Four and have a later kick-off at 4 pm.

The 2nd team wore their new kit in their final pre-season friendly against Bexhill AAC III at the Recreation Ground yesterday.

The kit is kindly sponsored by Long Rake Spar of Rye Harbour and the Club is extremely appreciative of their support.

The 1st team played a Semi- Veterans side in a friendly at the Recreation Ground yesterday evening in a game which proved a good work out for the two teams.

An extremely competitive fixture with both sides missing a few key players and some new faces on show saw the 1sts come out on top with a 5-2 victory.

Tom Cumber (2), Chris Anderson, Sean Melvin and Joe Hoblyn were the 1st team scorers with Michael Georgeson and Lee Pierce replying for the Semi-Vets.

The new season starts on Saturday, 30th August when the 1st team begin their league campaign away to Burwash with the match at Swan Meadow kicking-off at 2 pm. With cricket at Icklesham, the newly reformed 2nd team are also away taking on Hawkhurst United II. The game at the King George V Playing Field starts at 4 pm.

Both the 1st team and the Veterans have been drawn away in their Sussex Cup 1st round fixtures.

The 1st team travel to Billinghurst 3rds in the Sussex Junior Cup on Saturday, 4th October. Billingshurst play in Division Two North of the West Sussex Football League.

The Veterans take on Rustington Veterans, who play in the veterans section of the Sussex Sunday Football League, on Sunday, 28th September in the Sussex Veterans Challenge Cup.

The Hastings and District Football Association Veterans League will consist of nine teams for season 2025-26 with the veterans hoping to defend their title.

Hooe Veterans have folded but new teams in Crowhurst Veterans and Little Common Veterans have entered the competition.

The composition of the League will be – Battle Town Veterans, Bexhill Amateur Athletic Club Veterans, Crowhurst Veterans, FC Parker 99 Veterans, Icklesham Casuals Veterans, Little Common Veterans, Sedlescombe Rangers Veterans, Sidley United Veterans and Westfield Veterans.

Following the East Sussex Football League Annual General Meeting yesterday evening the composition of divisions for the coming season were approved. These are slightly amended from previously advised with both Divisions Three and Four now having eleven teams.

Teams for the two divisions are below –

The 1st team have entered the East Sussex Football League Divisions 3/4 Challenge Cup, the East Sussex Football League Macron Store Hastings Vase, the Hastings F A Lower Divisions Cup and the Sussex Junior Cup while the 2nd team will be in the Macron Store Hastings Vase and Hastings F A Lower Divisions Cup.

The Veterans will compete in the Hastings F A Veterans League and Cup and the Sussex Veterans Challenge Cup.

The season will commence on Saturday, 30th August.

The 18th Icklesham Casuals Golf Tournament took place yesterday afternoon at Eastbourne Downs Golf Club with ten competitors taking part.

The event was closely contested with just eleven stableford points separating the ten players. It was Steve Fuller who took the trophy with 31 points, two ahead of runner-up Nick Sparks with Hugh Sullivan a further point back in third place.

Once again a big thank you to Bob Baker for organising the competition and Tony Forster for making the arrangements with Eastbourne Downs.
