FIFTY YEAR REUNION OF THE SUSSEX JUNIOR CUP WINNERS 1963-64

A reunion to mark the 50th anniversary of the greatest achievement of the club to date, the 1st team winning the Sussex Junior Cup in the 1963-64 season from an entry of one hundred and sixty eight teams, was held at the Robin Hood in Icklesham on Friday, 25th April 2014.

The sit-down meal was attended by seven members of the winning side, officers, past and present members of the club, Eddie Potter, deputy chairman of the Sussex County Football Association and chairman of the East Sussex Football League, along with their guests. The players from the winning team in attendance were:- Chris Ades, David Ades, Jack Brown, Bryan Butler, Bill Burt, Mike Hills and captain George Potter. Norman Hickman, who played in three of the rounds leading up to the final including scoring the winning goal from 25 yards in the 3-2 victory over Drive United in the 6th round, was also present. Of the four remaining players, Jim Brunger and George Noakes have sadly passed away, Colin Relf was on holiday and Derek Perkins could not be tracked down.

The Robin Hood laid on an excellent three course meal at a cost of just £14.95 per person.

A fifteen page brochure was produced to mark the reunion which included a report on the final, details of the earlier rounds, newspaper reports, photographs and appearance records.
